“EVERY PROBLEM and need carries with it a gift. Every failure points us toward God, connecting us to the one who gives life meaning. The curse brings a blessing. God, you see, gives us exactly what we need-be that the problem or the solution!”
– Joyce M Shutt
THE GIFT buried at the heart of life’s pain. This is the treasure the author invites us to search for. In the midst of trouble and turmoil and tears, we can find pearls.
Personal experience forced Joyce Shutt to look for hope in despair, strength in weakness. Once she thought she was strong enough to handle anything life could throw at her. Then her children hurdled over the abyss of alcoholism and forced her to her knees.
Weaving her experience with Jesus’ Beatitudes and the Twelve Steps used by Alcoholics Anonymous, Families Anonymous, and similar programs, Shutt shows us how we can break our addictions, failures, and sins become fountains of new joy.
Steps to Hope offers families mired in the swamp of alcohol and drug addiction a path to higher ground. And it speaks to any of us trapped in destructive habits. It points us to God, who loves us even when we stutter and stumble.
Steps To Hope is now a personal blog of Joyce M Shutt based on Jesus' beatitudes an the twelve-step program.
STEPS TO HOPE is the origin of “Celebrate Recovery”; the 25 year old Twelve-Step program which has an exclusive Christian perspective of one’s Higher Power. After being published 26 years ago, and receiving the Silver Angel Award, Joyce has come forward to share what she has learned since that time as a gift to you.
You will find her personal blog style meditations and her collection of published articles for the Gettysburg Times, Gettysburg, PA, USA. A second edition of “Steps to Hope” is currently being prepared for publishing; as are workbooks, devotionals and companion journals based on the twelve-step programs.
